Drinking place: Dandy pink

I am back with a quick post. Actually, I have tried to visit this place a couple of years ago (yeah, now it's 2015!) but at that time it was closed when I arrived here. I nearly forgot this place even after coming back to Korea, however, a friend of mine awaken me that I missed the chance to get in here the other day and took me the place with a lovely name 'Dandy pink'. It is completely a hidden place so that you might have a trouble to find out the location. Nevertheless, it would be worthwhile visiting.

I would say skewers are the speciality of Dandy pink. They are grilled properly and perfect with both beer and wine. The place gives intimate and comfortable mood, thus, it would be nice to chill out and have a peaceful time with your companies.

Drinking place: Angel's share

The whole space is called as 'uhjjeoda gage' where used to be a residential house. Now it has become the space consisting of eight different small shops where you can have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake, buy interesting books, have your hair cut and have a drink. I visited the drinking place, 'Angel's share' where has cozy and intimate moods.

The bar is really small so when my friend and I arrived, it was full. Thus, we decided to sit outside in the garden. It was quite chilly but we were the only ones sitting outside so that we could enjoy our private moment. Although they do have menu for cocktails, there are many more cocktails that you are able to explore. You can just ask them what kind of flavour or taste you want, then bartender will make the special cocktail for you. We both wanted to have something not that sweet and clear so the bartender recommended us gin fizz which was great. I am sure you will not be disappointed with their cocktails.

They also have selections of whiskies. If you fancy having whiskies, ask them help. They are experts!

These were our last drinks for the day. The thing you need to keep in mind is they serve only three glasses for one person, which is pity haha.

Drinking place: Salon Jebi

Actually, this place is not just only for having a drink but a multipurpose space for gigs, performances, and exhibitions. The name 'Salon Jebi(swallow)' is originated from the name of place where Lee Sang, one of the most famous Korean artists as a poet, novelist and architect, used to get together with the artists of the day.

During the daytime, it offers cozy and comfy atmosphere which is suitable for concentrating on one's own work or enjoying afternoon laziness. In the evening and night time, it is transformed into a drinking place called 'Drunk Jebi'.

The place is full of the creative mood with witty posters, brochure, artworks and stuff, which creates its unique atmosphere.

If you come here for a drink, I would like to recommend you to have Irish Car Bomb, with a pint of Guinness and a shot of Bailey's. I also tried 'sweet and hot milk' which had extremely mellow flavour and perfect for the chilly weather to warm your body and soul.

+If you need some finger food, try the grilled rice cake bar. (I could not try it as it was sold out which means it is really popular!)

Drinking place: Octa

On one day in September last year, I hung out with friends at Octa before going to London. As far as I remember, the weather was still quite hot and humid so we had a lot of pints of beer to quench our thirst (as always).

I went there after one year and it lived up to my expectation, still having the same atmosphere, homey and cosy. There were a few changes in the menu but the taste of the food was still great.

One of my favourites, Gyoja with Korean mustard and soy sauce

Natto (Japanese fermented soy beans) on soft bean curd with dashi

I would like to warn you before you try this dish as Natto has its stinky smell so that if you are inexperienced of this, it could give you an unforgettable impression not in a good way...

Curry with baguette

One of the new menus that I tried on that day. It sounds pretty new to me, the combination of curry and baguette, not with nan bread or rice, but it was unexpectedly good.

And... we also had hot soup made with Korean beef tendon, oriental radish and burdock which warmed our heart. Every dish we ordered was great and the beers and highball were harmonised with the dishes, in short, satisfactory enough!

Drinking place: Talkki ba

Talkki ba defines itself as a drinking place for day drinking. I visited here with my friend last week just for a quick drink before another friend of mine joined us. As we were there pretty early to have a drink, we were the only customer at the time.

The atmosphere of this place is not easy to explain with one word so I would say it has an eccentric mood in a good way. There were a lot of hand drawings on the wall by customers and nice music was being played.

+ You can request songs that you want to listen to and, just in case, it is possible to hire the space if you plan a small party with friends or with other purposes. Lastly, beers are available for take away.

Here is their menu. If you have any difficulties choosing bar snacks, the star rating will help you to choose one as we did (Yeah, I am so indecisive when it comes to choosing menus!)

We ordered 'Badack i' with three stars, a dried pollack and peanuts and snacks with special dip (Forgot to take a photo of draft beers as we were so thirsty!).
