'Indefinite Objects' Kwangho Lee

Yeah, I am being lazy to post because of a few reasons so that I post this exhibition a bit late after visiting the opening event (But you have about twenty more days to catch up this exhibition so no worries). The artist, Kwangho Lee, introduces his drawings and furniture-like objects through out the exhibition. 

The royal blue colour knots are the part of his work. It was so cool that we had a seat on his work and even ate slices of pizza there! Feel free to visit the exhibition and experience his work.

Noodle place: Ulmildae

I do love nangmyeon, Korean cold noodles, a lot and a lot. To be more specific, there are two different kinds of nangmyeon, which are Hamheung style and Pyungyang style. You might assume that they are the name of cities in North Korea, and yeah, you are right, as nangmyeon is North Korean food. I especially prefer the latter which has more plain taste. I guess most nangmyeon you usually have would be Hamheung style as Hamheung nangmyeon places are predominant. Thus, the taste of Pyungyang nangmyeon maybe new to you. Indeed, quite many Koreans do not prefer that much Pyungyang nangmyeon because they are unfamiliar with its taste. I would say there are likes and dislikes when it comes to the taste of Pyungyang nangmyeon. But if you would like to try something new Korean food, it would be worth trying!

I ordered Mulnangmyeon, nangmyeon in ice broth which was amazing. If you fancy having something spicy, also Bibim nangmyeon (spicy cold noodles without broth) is available. 

I hope you like Pyungyang nangmyeon with its softer noodles and milder broth. Enjoy!

Shop: Object

There are two Object shops in Seoul. This is one in Samcheong-dong, and the other is located in Hongdae area. It pursues eco-friendly business by encouraging consumers to make a wise purchase. It deals with products by many different designers who share the similar value with its business ethics. Object also tries to give life to old, abandoned and unneeded items in our daily life.

The shop might seem as a very little tiny space from outside but once you enter the shop, loads of interesting and eye-catching items are waiting for you.

On the whole, the shop has variety of unique items and the price is reasonable. If you would like to buy some special items which are different from mass produced products, this shop would be of your interest.

Palace: Changdeok-gung

Bukchon (North village) is one of my favourite spots in Seoul. The area is attractive as it is full of contradictory atmosphere. I meant, for examples, in this area, traditional and modern coexist and I am able to be calm and peaceful, even though I am at the centre of an extremely busy city in the globe. And, lastly, Changdeok gung is located here. I assume that Gyungbok gung is most well-known palace in Korea for foreigners but Changdeok gung is also a stunning palace to visit.  

Ah, I do love the little friends on the roof called 'Uhcheoguni'. On that day, I bumped into hundreds of them, which made me smile.

It was worthwhile visiting there on a lovely day in late autumn. Although I was not able to get the access to Huwon, the secret garden, located in the palace (all tickets were sold out! But you can book your tickets online in advance), I fully enjoyed the last bit of autumn with the moderate weather and fresh air. Don't miss out the amazing view in Changdeok gung this autumn. Autumn is about to say good bye to you, hurry up!

Drinking place: Angel's share

The whole space is called as 'uhjjeoda gage' where used to be a residential house. Now it has become the space consisting of eight different small shops where you can have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake, buy interesting books, have your hair cut and have a drink. I visited the drinking place, 'Angel's share' where has cozy and intimate moods.

The bar is really small so when my friend and I arrived, it was full. Thus, we decided to sit outside in the garden. It was quite chilly but we were the only ones sitting outside so that we could enjoy our private moment. Although they do have menu for cocktails, there are many more cocktails that you are able to explore. You can just ask them what kind of flavour or taste you want, then bartender will make the special cocktail for you. We both wanted to have something not that sweet and clear so the bartender recommended us gin fizz which was great. I am sure you will not be disappointed with their cocktails. 

They also have selections of whiskies. If you fancy having whiskies, ask them help. They are experts!

These were our last drinks for the day. The thing you need to keep in mind is they serve only three glasses for one person, which is pity haha.

Thai place: Soi yeonnam

Soi yeonnam is the restaurant run by the same owner of 'Tuktuk noodle Thai', one of the most famous Thai restaurants in this area. It reminded me of the local noodle place I visited in Bangkok, which means it keeps authentic Thai taste and atmosphere.

My friend and I ordered set A, comes with a big bowl of beef soup noodles and spring rolls, which is good to share for two (You can choose thick or thin noodles). The soup was quite plain so you can make it as savoury as you want with the spices and peppers served on the table. At the moment, the menu is pretty simple as meat on a stick is no longer available. However, overall, it was satisfactory.

+ Beers go really well with the food at Soi yeonnnam!
